Phantom Projects Theatre Group is seeking performers (Ages
14-21 ONLY) for the THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. We
are looking for a combination of talent, energy, and
personality.
Note: All roles are open to any ethnicity (except for KKK
member).
First rehearsal is April 16, 2012.
ABOUT 'THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE'
Part of the Theatre for a Teen Audience series at the
beautiful 1,251-seat La Mirada Theatre for the Performing
Arts, THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE features an all-youth
cast, performing a show that allows audience to experience
this compelling new drama centered around two high school
sweethearts torn apart by a senseless act of violence.
Journey into the past and gain new perspective on the
present as stories from slavery and the Holocaust are woven
with events inspired by today's headlines. The Center of the
Universe will leave you motivated with an unforgettable
message about the value of human life. The show also
features a post-show discussion that is guided by the
performers.
WE ARE CASTING FOR THE FOLLOWING ROLES
[SLAVE MISTRESS] female, 15-19, proud, obnoxiously
patriotic, completely unaware of the humanity of slaves. Minor
Role.
[CRAIG] male, any ethnicity 15-21, smart, funny, loving, great
personality. Lead Role.
[NAZI] male, any ethnicity, 14-21, cold, unfeeling,
NON-SPEAKING ROLE. Minor Role
[KLANSMAN] male, African-American, 14-21, hate-filled,
angry, fired-up member of the KKK, character wears a white
sheet, hood, and gloves. The irony of casting an African
American actor for this role is intentional. Supporting Role
[Mr. Society] male, any ethnicity, 15-21, good comedic
timing, ability to be ''big'' and over the top. This character
represents an over-the-top representation of society's
inability to connect to human tragedy. Minor Role
[Mrs. Society] female, any ethnicity, 15-21, good comedic
timing, ability to be ''big'' and over the top. This character
represents an over-the-top representation of society's

[Sparky] male or female, any ethnicity, 15-18. Energetic,
eclectic, fashion-forward store clerk. Minor Role.
